Dear Smyrna Families,
On behalf of our entire school community, I want to welcome you back to school on August 8th. We are looking forward to a wonderful school year working as a team to help each student reach their highest potential.
Kindergarten Camp is on July 30th from 9:00-10:00 am. (Sign up for individual times for Brigance testing later that day)
Orientation for all NEW students in grade K-5 is on August 5th, 2024 from 1:00-2:00 pm.
Orientation for all RETURNING students 1-5 is on August 5th, 2024 from 2:00-3:30 pm.
During orientation you will verify transportation, drop off medications, pick up supply lists, and complete all required forms. Please park in the lot behind the school near the playground.
Please visit our School Website and review the Smyrna Family and Student Handbook.
The majority of school communication will come electronically. Please sign up for School Messenger and SNAP CNXT, if you haven’t already. SchoolMessenger is a one-way messaging tool used by the district to send texts and emails directly. With SchoolCNXT, you can receive messages from the district, schools and teachers, in your family's preferred language. If you have already signed up but are not receiving daily emails from the district, please check and make sure your contact information is up-to-date.
Prior to orientation on August 5th, log into Parent Place to complete the online start of the school year forms. For directions - HERE. The Parent Place Forms include the Student Information form , nurse consent, and Free & Reduced Meal Information.
Teachers will not be available to meet at orientation. Open House is scheduled for September 10th. During that time you will be able to visit with your student's teacher in their classroom.
Here at Smyrna, we have a very liberal uniform policy. Students are allowed to wear any color collared shirt with blue, black or khaki colored shorts, skirt or pants.
If your student is in need of any assistance with the transition back to school, please contact our Family Resource Youth Center Worker, Mrs. Mekayla Belcher at 502-212-9717.
We look forward to meeting with you on August 5th. Feel free to contact the office at 485-8329 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Amanda Cooper - Smyrna Elementary Principal
