Sumobot is Robo Rumble's most popular competition! In Sumobot, student created robots attempt to push each other out of the ring within the time limit. The first robot to touch the floor outside of the ring loses the bout. The robot that wins two out of three bouts wins the match. While pushing the opposing robot out of the ring is the only way to win a bout, disabling the opponent (flipping, lifting, etc.) is strongly encouraged.
LEGO SumoBot takes place in a in a four foot circular ring with a two inch white border made of smooth plywood. Lego Spike, Lego EV3, and other Lego robotics platforms are allowed in the Sumobot Competition. In stalemate matches where neither robot is pushed out of the ring, judges discretion is used to determine which robot made more offensive moves. The robot that makes more offensive moves wins the bout.
