If you could walk through the hallways and classrooms of Noe Middle School, you would see learning at its best. Diversity, creativity, and academic excellence are the hallmarks of our school. By providing challenging courses and recognizing the individual talents of each child, Noe prepares students for the demands of high school while welcoming their youthful enthusiasm and desire to make a difference in the world. Noe is one of the largest and most diverse middle schools in Jefferson County.
From Our Principal
At Noe Middle School, we value the importance of arts education in the development of the whole child. We are honored that Noe Middle School’s Seventh- and Eighth-Grade Choir has been selected to perform as part of the Kentucky Music Educators Association (KMEA) Conference. I am very proud of the contributions to the arts community made by our students and choir director, Mr. Russell Cooper.
Even during this current pandemic, Mr. Cooper finds resourceful ways to teach his students music appreciation and technical skills. He creates opportunities for students to gain exposure to many aspects of music appreciation through interactive learning experiences and exposure to quality performances. He builds collegial relationships in order to enhance students’ learning; collaborating with our Dance and Visual Arts teachers to showcase student products that transcend just one medium. Music during this time brings comfort and allows students to make connections to their world. I hope that you enjoy their performance.

About the Choir
Though Noe has a Visual and Performing Arts Magnet Program, the choir is open to all students without audition. Students in the choral program at Noe are a part of a close-knit community of musicians who work together and support each other in life as well as music making. Students learn the fundamentals of healthy vocal production, music literacy, diction, and music history through a repertoire-focused approach. We provide plenty of opportunities for solo and small ensemble singing in addition to large ensemble collaboration. Students regularly participate in JCPS All-County, the Kentucky Choral Directors Association Fall All-State Choir, and the KMEA Solo and Ensemble assessment as well as regional and national ACDA Honor Choirs.
Arts Vision Statement
Noe Middle School’s Visual and Performing Arts Magnet Programs challenge students through a variety of quality experiences, school-wide collaboration, and parent support to explore their artistic potential. Through creating, performing, and critically responding to experiences, students become contributing citizens who appreciate, understand, and/or participate in the arts. Our school provides an atmosphere that nurtures individual growth, encourages strong character, and maximizes creative opportunities through exploration and specialization in the arts. Noe Middle School students have access to highly trained instructors, community arts resources, and professional artists as well as high-quality extracurricular and co-curricular programming.
