Hello, hola, bonjour, ciao, konnichiwa, guten tag, jambo, and aloha! My name is (Louis) Andrew Mendoza and I will be joining your Wheeler Wildcat Elementary School family as your new School Counselor! Over the last 8 years, it has been my honor and privilege to serve students and families in the states of Hawaii, Washington, and Rhode Island, and I am elated that my life’s journey has now brought me here to Kentucky! I am delighted to begin a new adventure in education with all of you!

As your school counselor, I will be partnering with Mrs. Hoback to deliver a comprehensive school counseling program that meets the social, emotional, and academic needs of our students. In addition to the normal scope of duties for which I am responsible, I am particularly passionate about helping students to develop problem solving strategies, conflict resolution and mediation, restorative practices, emotional regulation, and positive behavioral interventions and supports.

When I’m not busy being a school counselor, I have lots of hobbies to keep me busy! I am a lifelong surfer, a Brazilian jiu jitsu black belt, an avid kayak angler, ski, snow, and mountain enthusiast, a guitar player, video game aficionado, vintage toy collector, fantasy football fanatic (and football in general, Go Cowboys!), military husband, and father to a Boston Terrier, French Bulldog, and a feisty 3 year old toddler!

It is with tremendous gratitude that I now serve the students and families of this community, and I will do so with excellence, consistency, patience, empathy, and compassion. Here’s to an excellent school year, Wheeler!
