*NEW* 10.22.20 Letter to Parents

*NEW* Here is some exciting news-

Jefferson County Public School (JCPS) families who need help with their student’s computer, getting a special education screening or deciding what school their child should attend next year can now get in-person help. Humana has donated two floors in its Waterside Building for the JCPS 360° Student & Family Support Center, a one-stop, social distancing-friendly service center in downtown Louisville. The JCPS 360° Student & Family Support Center at Humana, located at 101 E. Main St., is available by appointment Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (subject to change) through at least the end of the year. Families can make an appointment by visiting Services include:

Parking is available in Humana’s surface parking lot at Washington and Brook Streets free of charge to families during their appointments. Families should enter the Waterside building using the Washington Street entrance.

As we continue to prepare for the re-opening of school at Meyzeek, we need for every family to complete the Intent to Return to School Form. You can access the form by clicking on the link below:

The link to the selection form only is Please know there is a transportation form at the end of the selection form. You will need to also indicate whether or not your student will be riding the bus if you select in the In-Person Learning Option.

    • Thurs: Meyzeek Spirit Day (Wear Meyzeek-wear or Red & Black)

    • Fri: Character Costume Day


OCTOBER 30th Character Costume Day Drive-Thru and Materials Pick Up/Drop-Off from 2:30-4:30

Here's what to expect on October 30th:

  • Come and see Meyzeek Staff in costume

  • Meyzeek Bears get to safely show off their costumes from their cars

  • Meyzeek Bears receive a treat from the Meyzeek Faculty and Staff

  • Meyzeek Bears can pick up new class materials (Math notebooks and Science Notebooks)

  • Meyzeek Bears can drop off any class materials they will no longer need

We hope to see every Meyzeek Bear while following the CDC Guidelines!


Those who ordered Camp Meyzeek Shirts can pick them up between 10 AM and 1 PM every Monday in the Youth Service Center.

Parent Place Forms:

In the last week we have gone from 32% to 44% forms completion on JCPS Parent Place. Thank you, parents! Let's keep this going. The goal is to have 100% completion! Please take a moment to fill out each of the forms and hit submit. Click here to go to the Parent Place.

Meyzeek Black Student Union:

Are you interested in being a founder member of the Meyzeek Black Student Union? The first meeting will be 10/29 at 2:30 pm. Watch the announcements for meeting link information. Meyzeek Red Ribbon Week:

Red Ribbon Week takes place each year from October 23 through 31st. The mission is to help keep kids drug-free. Next week, students will participate in Red Ribbon Week-themed Advisory lessons, but you can also learn more about the Red Ribbon Week Campaign here.

Your Meyzeek PTSA and Meyzeek Administrative team are hosting a costume contest beginning Monday, October 26th. Prizes will be awarded for 1st through 3rd place for both the Twitter and Facebook sites. We hope to have the votes tallied by the end of the day October 30th and will announce the winner shortly there after but by the following week. So, get your costumes together and upload them to the Meyzeek social media pages. By doing so, you are agreeing to have your photo published on these pages and the winners photos could be used in the Meyzeek yearbook for 20-21.

New EBook Collection!

Students now have access to 573 eBook titles and over 2,500 copies! To access the new collection, students should visit Meyzeek's library libguide, click the "Student Resource" tab, select the MackinVia eBooks box and click the blue Log in oval that will take them to Clever.

2020-2021 Yearbooks Photo Request:

Calling all Meyzeek athletes who are practicing at home, utilizing club teams and otherwise sharpening your skills. The Yearbook would like to feature Meyzeek students individually involved in sports activities during this tough year of postponed/cancelled school fall sports. All of you runners, archers, golfers, field hockey, football, cheer/gymnastics, tennis, basketball, and soccer players please send me a photo of you involved in your sport with your name/grade and we will include them in an NTI Fall Sports collage. Please note that photos including faces we don't have permission to use, including other students from JCPS, can not be used.

JCPS Meal Service:

Please see the attached flyer for important information. Meyzeek is a Community Eligibility School, therefore meals are free for any Meyzeek student. In addition, the Clothing Assistance Program (CAP) is up and running. If your family is in need of clothing, contact Ms. Baker (Youth Services Center Coordinator) at or via the main school number 485-8299.

As you shop for your canned goods to donate, please remember to download the free Box Tops for Education app and select Meyzeek Middle School. Then just scan your receipt. It is that simple! The app will calculate the Box Tops from any eligible products and donate the money to Meyzeek. If you come across a product that still has the Box Top to clip and it has not expired, we are still accepting those in the office. Please help us earn money for Meyzeek with things you are already buying.

kroger community rewards

Please make sure you have selected Meyzeek Middle School PTA as your charity of choice with your Kroger Plus card. You can designate your choice by registering your card on the Kroger website. At the bottom of your Kroger receipt, it will say "At your request we are donating to Meyzeek Middle School PTA." Then you can scan that receipt with your Box Tops for Education app and possibly earn more money for Meyzeek. Thank you for your help!
