General announcements:

New Color Battle Prize Drawing

It’s our last push before Monday’s Color Battle! Every new donation of $20 earns a raffle ticket for a super prize basket containing an inflatable air lounger, stainless steel Anython water bottle kit, and an Anython hat. Congratulations to 6th grader Arianna T. for winning the last drawing of AirPods! Deadline is Friday night at 9pm!

Yearbooks Distribution

"Yearbooks will be distributed to students on Tuesday May 24, 2022. Students who have purchased a yearbook will receive their yearbooks in their advisory class. If a student would still like to purchase a yearbook using cash or check, they may still purchase one in the front office through the end of the school year. After that date, for cash or check sales, they can reach out to Adeline Thaler at addiekate44@gmail.com to set up an exchange of goods. If you would still like to purchase a yearbook using a credit card, you can go to this link to purchase a yearbook directly from the company and have it dropped off to your house.

Meyzeek Spring Orchestra Concert

Please come out to support the Meyzeek Orchestra for our Spring Concert Wednesday, May 18th at Eastern High School. Students who are performing need to arrive at 6:30 pm. The concert will start promptly at 7:00 pm.

2022-23 Yearbook Class

Are you interested in being part of the Meyzeek Yearbook Production Team next year? GREAT NEWS! Meyzeek is offering a BRAND NEW Yearbook/Advanced Graphic Art class for the 2022-23 school year! This is a YEAR LONG Bear Time class for 8th Graders Only. Responsibilities include leading in-class group projects, taking pictures of school and after-school events and activities, and creating graphics and layouts for next year's Yearbook. Students who have taken Graphic Art in either 6th or 7th will be prioritized for the Yearbook Class selection. If you are interested in taking this class in 8th grade please fill out the following form!

Louisville Free Public Library Summer Reading Program

The Louisville Free Public Library will once again be offering a Summer Reading Program at all locations. Please participate! The program will take place June 1-August 6. Please sign up and read 6 items of your choice to be registered for a drawing featuring great prizes. Remember to read this Summer!

Trinity Math Skills Camp:

The camp runs from July 19th -22nd and takes place from 9a.m. - 11a.m. If the camp fills up there is a chance of opening a 12pm-2pm session if there is enough interest. Camp will review and build basic math skills needed for success in algebra. Students will work individually and in groups building math and problem solving skills. Students will also explore uses of the TI-83+/TI-84 graphing calculator. The fee is $100 and is open to all students (not just Trinity students) who will be in grades 7th-9th for the 2019/2020 school year. So boys, girls, future St. X students, etc. are all welcome. Spring Band Concert

Our Bandlings are working very hard to prepare for our Spring Concert, which will be on Monday, May 23 at Ballard High School's Performing Arts Center. Students will be given their "call times," but the curtain is at 7 PM. Please make plans to attend...this is going to be GOOD! http://www.meyzeekband.com

Meyzeek 8th Grade:

Sneaker Ball 8th grade dance May 23rd, 2022 after school 3:30- 5:30. Come dressed in your best semi formal attire and wear your favorite sneakers. Come celebrate the last days of middle school, enjoy friends, food and dancing the night away. Tickets are $10.00 and can be purchased during your lunch period in the cafeteria. Please see Mrs. Broughton or Mrs. Hansberry for any questions.

VEX IQ Robotics

Congratulations to the Meyzeek VEX IQ Girls Robotics team - Sophia T., Allison K., Lenita D., Anvika V., Deepika K. - on their Sportsmanship Award win out of 1,000 teams in Dallas, Texas at the VEX IQ Worlds Championship!

Science Olympiad Camp 2022

Camp Science Olympiad is a weeklong immersion for students into the world of Science Olympiad (SciOly or SO) competition lead by the award winning duPont Manual Science Olympiad Students. If you have never participated in SciOly before, here is your opportunity to learn all about it in a fun and friendly environment. If you are a veteran of SciOly, come and learn how you can improve your skills and try new events that you may not have tried before! Science Olympiad is an academic competition where teams of fifteen students compete in twenty-three different events. The events range from engineering events where the students build apparatuses to perform a given task to study events where students take tests at completion and try to outscore their opponents. *Camp will be held online through Edmodo with live sessions each day, with Virtual Competitions at the end of camp. A kit with all necessary materials will be delivered by the weekend before camp begins! :) For incoming 6th-9th graders!

GENERAL LAYOUT:

9:30AM: Morning Meeting w/ everyone (take attendance)

10:00AM - 11:30PM: Session 1

11:30-12:30 -- LUNCH --

12:30 - 1:30PM: Recreation

1:30 - 3:00PM: Session 2

3:00 - 3:30PM: Closing Meeting w/everyone

The cost is $153.00 and includes camp 9-3 daily M-F, along with a Camp Kit. 2022 Fall Sports Signup

Time to signup for the 2022 fall sports. We are looking for hardworking, dedicated student athletes that want to represent MEYZEEK MIDDLE SCHOOL for the 2022 fall season. Signup now for fall sports, football, field hockey, tennis, cross country, and golf. Individual sports signup forms are located in the information station in the cafeteria. Please take this form home and let a parent/guardian complete the google form. All these sports will start in the middle of July. Individual sports information will be sent and announced through emails gathered from the google form.

Robotics

Congratulations to the Meyzeek Robotics teams on their participation in the Robo Rumble! Shlok A. and Aadit A. won 1st place in the Sumobot competition! Saanvi A., Suvidhi M., Akhila N., Sasmitha S.K., and Mihira T. won 1st place in the RCX competition! Shlok J., Samuel K., Arjun N., Kabir S., Sahil T. won 2nd place in the RCX competition!

Meyzeek Tennis Celebration and 2022-23 Interest Meeting

Next Thursday, May 19, we are hosting a FALL 2022-23 TENNIS Meeting and 8th graders can pick up their gifts. Meeting will start at 2:45. Pick up at 3:30.

Field Hockey Signup

Who is interested in playing field hockey? If so, complete the google form. No experience needed! We are looking hardworking, dedicated student athletes that want to represent MEYZEEK MIDDLE SCHOOL for the 2022 field hockey season. The season will start mid-July. Field Hockey information will be shared through emails gathered from the google form.

Preseason workouts will start in June. More information will be shared after signups are closed. The 2022 middle school football season will start mid-July. Football flyers can be found in the informational wall in the cafeteria.

2022 Golf Season

The 2022 middle school golf season will start mid-July. All golf season information will be sent and announced through emails gathered from the google form completion. Looking for hardworking, dedicated student/athletes that want to represent MEYZEEK MIDDLE SCHOOL for the 2022 golf season.

VEX IQ Robotics

Meyzeek Quiz Bowl:

Congratulations to Meyzeek Quiz Bowl team who competed at Nationals. The team tied for 8th place in a field of 144 teams. Way to go Bears!

MathCounts Online Summer Camp

A Message for all Mathletes: Hello Mathletes, We are former members of the Meyzeek Mathcounts team and we are hosting a summer camp (online) for middle schoolers. This year, we are doing a two-week session where we explain 10 topics that are usually not covered in school math but show up in competitive math competitions such as MathCounts. 8th Grader Sports Physical Returned:

8th GRADERS who need their updated sports physical returned for spring/summer high school sports, please complete the google form. Physicals will be returned daily. Last day to request the physical is May 20th.

2022 Manual Girls Soccer Camp:

2022 MANUAL GIRLS SOCCER. Girls’ Championship Preseason Soccer Camp is JULY 11-13, 2022. 9 – 11 AM, Monday-Tuesday-Wednesday at Manual Stadium @ 1230 E. Burnett Ave in Germantown. FLYER LINK

Volleyball Clinics and Tryouts:

Any current 6th or 7th grade girl that is interested in playing on next year's volleyball team, clinics and tryouts are approaching. Clinics are May 11th and 12th- not required but recommended. Tryouts are May 18th and 19th. Clinics and Tryouts are immediately after school until 4:30 pm. Please complete the google form prior to clinics.

Ballard Field Hockey Camp & Tryouts:

Ballard High School is offering a Field Hockey Summer camp for K-8th grade and an incoming Freshman camp. Please follow the link for dates and times.

Black Student Union/Justice Now "Teen Violence Play"

Hello Meyzeek Bears!!!!! This Black Student Union /Justice Now committee meet every Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:30. We are recruiting actors and actresses for our play about TEEN VIOLENCE. We have reserved the auditorium for Wednesday’s practice. If you like to act in class, come act in the play. Contact Mr. Creggett for more information/questions.

8th Grade Dessert Bar Donations

On May 23rd, during 8th Grade Promotion Week, Meyzeek will be hosting an 8th Grade Dance and the PTSA will be providing a dessert bar. There are 357 8th graders so we need a lot of desserts. Meyzeek Color Battle Fundraiser Has Begun!

Meyzeek students and caregivers! You now have your sheet with the individual code that links to your fundraising page to begin earning PRIZES and POWDER for the Color Battle on May 5! With each dollar earned, we get the opportunity to plan and put on more dances, festivals, and tournaments. If you would like to help, the PTSA needs 5 volunteers to help hand out the powder pouches on battle day!
