Resources for Design Thinking

Want to try something new but don't know where to start? Design thinking is a process that includes empathizing with users and hacking current systems to respond to human needs. This is a collection of system hacks you can try at your school, all inspired by problems brought to light by the film Most Likely to Succeed

The Teacher-Founders for School Startup at Fern Creek High School have outlined and currently use a Design Thinking process to deepen learning environments and experiences for their students. On their page you can see their team-based, process-oriented approach to improving teaching and learning in action.

A beginners guide to Design Thinking, this page from Stanford d.School has 4 creative problem solving activities. It provides both examples and a model of how a Design Thinking process is applied to problem solving in schools, both by teachers and students.

Another introduction to Design Thinking, the Teachers Guild provides resources in each stage of the Design Thinking process, and a downloadable "Design Thinking for Educators" Tool Kit.

Design Kit contains videos and articles discussing Human-Centered Design in a global context.
