2024/25 Course Book

Counselor Request

Eastern High School scheduling for 2024-25 school year. All schedule requests are due by March 29, 2024.

What to take for Courses 1-4. All incoming 8th graders are required to take English, Math, Science, & Social Studies. At Eastern, we have 3 levels of courses for English and Math: Comprehensive/Regular, Honors, and Advanced. In addition, we offer an AP Human Georgraphy course for Advanced students.

Course 5: All incoming 8th graders are required to take Freshman Seminar. This class is designed to prepare students to transition successfully to high school. This college and career seminar course embeds industry and postsecondary field trips, guest speakers, and hands-on learning experiences. The goal is for students to engage in personal and career exploration, so that they may identify and explore the career academy pathways within our school.

Courses 6-7: 1 semester of Physical Education and 1 semester of Health are required to graduate. Most students decide the take this class during freshman year. If you would like to take PE/Health please request it under electives. If you would like to take PE/Health online over the summer please sign up at http://tinyurl.com/summerpeandhealth

Electives incoming freshman may take: Digital Piano, Ballroom Dancing, Visual Arts 1, Photography (requires recommendation), Guitar 1, Band 1, Jazz Ensemble (requires audition), Percussion Ensemble (requires audition), Orchestra, Choir, and Business (Ethical Leadership & Wealth Management).

Language classes can also be requested under electives. If your student plans to go to college after high school, it is encouraged to take 2-3 years of the same language. Languages offered: French, German, Spanish, and Japanese. Honors and advanced classes are offered in each language.
