Have all application materials ready before beginning the online application submission.
Online application will be open November 6th, 2023

Recommendations* for the 2024-2025 application season are due January 8th, 2024.

*Teachers will receive a digital form to complete once you submit your application - make sure your confirm the correct email address with your teacher.

Step 1: Apply online through the JCPS website.

Step 2: Complete duPont Manual application.

*If you selected duPont Manual as a JCPS 2nd choice you will receive an email with the duPont Manual Application materials.

*If you applied after December 22, 2024 additional information will be requested if needed.

Manual Admissions Information

Applications will be reviewed through a process that evaluates achievement test scores, attendance, extra-curricular involvement, grades, personal essays, and recommendations. Application materials will be submitted via an online platform.

An audition is part of the admission process for YPAS students in addition to the completed online application and JCPS application
An in-person writing task is part of the admission process for J&C students in addition to the completed online application and JCPS application.

Please note:

Residency in Jefferson County is required for admission.
Jefferson County residents are not charged tuition.
School bus service may be provided free to accepted students.

*Early Review

Early Review is an option for magnet students at: Farnsley (MST), Meyzeek (MST), Newburg (MST), Noe (VA or YPAS) and Western (VA or YPAS) middle schools who want to apply to Manual/YPAS and continue in their MST, VA, or YPAS magnet programs.

Prospective Student Experiences:

NON-JCPS Students only

Manual welcomes the opportunity to host 8th grade parochial, private, Anchorage, non-Jefferson County resident, home-schooled or out-of-state students through Prospective Student Experiences (formerly known as Shadowing). This student only experience will include a tour of our campus and question-and-answer panel with current students. It will provide the opportunity for prospective students from outside JCPS to explore all the school has to offer and highlight magnet-specific locations in our buildings. They will also interact with our current students who will share their own experiences and answer magnet specific questions.
