OVEC highlights my classroom environment, relationship building, and teaching style.
"I want my students to realize the world around them…to discover how they can make an impact. I always think about what I want them to be able to do and what connections I want them to make with the world. It’s not about isolated standards."
The Academies of Louisville highlights the efforts by the cybersecurity pathway to bring experiential learning to students.
"By exposing students to the actual environments and professionals in their field of study, Fairdale High School is preparing the next generation of cybersecurity experts not just with technical skills, but with a true understanding of the impact and importance of their future work."
Fairdale High School's first KC7 Live event. KC7 President, Simeon Kakpovi, and Vice President, Greg Schloemer, visited Fairdale High School the day after the election to host a whole-program threat hunting event. After speaking of their careers at Microsoft, Kakpovi and Schloemer unveiled a new module to students In the Cybersecurity pathway. Students worked to solve the intrusion, document the case, and develop an attribution presentation.
Students were so adept at the game that two new "challenge" sections were added to the module during the event.
In collaboration with Jibby Saetang, Microsoft and KC7, I was able to present at the SANS Institute Cybersecurity Threat Intelligence Summit in January 2025.
Our talk focused on the innovative approach to cybersecurity education through gamification and the KC7 platform. After introducing it into my classroom, a group of students began working to develop their own module through teamwork, research, and collaboration with the experts.
