Admission to Brown School for Elementary is a Random Draw Lottery

PLEASE NOTE: JCPS does NOT provide school bus transportation to the Brown School. Families should consider their transportation needs before applying.

• November 2 - December 18, 2026

For consideration for Brown School elementary grades, an applicant must apply within the window and mark Brown as their first choice.

*To complete the Brown School Admissions Form (opens November 2, 2026). The Form will provide a link to the JCPS Magnet School Application. Must be completed by December 18, 2026.

• January 4 - February 4, 2027 

Initial acceptances to Brown School will be sent to families, based on the random-draw lottery order.

• Beginning February 5, 2027 

Applicants who are not admitted, due to limited capacity. will be rolled to their second-choice while remaining on the Brown School wait list.

• February 2027 - March 2028

Openings at Brown School for the 2027-28 school year will be filled from the Brown School first-choice wait list, in the order created by the original random draw lottery list.

The registration process must occur prior to completing the JCPS Magnet School online application. (This step is required for students in private/parochial schools, students moving to Jefferson County from other school districts, and students enrolling in Jefferson County for the first time.)
