Mr. Meek began his career in education as a teaching assistant at Our Lady of Peace Hospital in 2005. He then earned a Special Education certification from Spalding University and taught in State Agency Schools until adding a math certification and becoming an Instructional Coach in the Math Dept. He has been an Assistant Principal in State Agency since 2016.
I went to Holy Cross High School in Louisville, KY and Bellarmine University for my undergraduate degree. In 2005, I began my teaching career at Stuart Middle School as a Special Education Teacher. For 6 years, I taught in a variety of classes including 6th and 7th grade resource, collaboration, and EBD self-contained. I knew I wanted to be a school counselor so I was accepted into the Counseling Graduate Program at Indiana University Southeast. At the same time, I moved schools and taught MS/HS English and Science at Boy's and Girl's Haven. When I finished my degree in School Counseling, I became the counselor at Brooklawn where I have been for the last 8 years.

Mrs. Thompson has been a JCPS teacher since 2005. She earned her BA from U of L and a Master's in Teaching LBD from Spaulding University. She has been teaching High School English at Brooklawn since 2014.
H.S. Science
After working in various biology labs, Ms. Wilborn followed her dream to become​ a teacher receiving her MAT at the University of Louisville in 2000. She began her education career at Brooklawn School thereafter, also earning an M.Ed. and certification in Special Education from UL. Her most recent endeavor has been completing the Gifted and Talented program from Western Kentucky University with a teaching endorsement. Ms. Wilborn has been teaching at Brooklawn School for 22 years.
M.S Science
Mrs. Baumbeck graduated from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a Masters degree in Education. When she was done, she went on to study Community and Mental Health Counseling which has helped her to beome a better teacher at Brooklawn. Mrs. Baumbeck's heroes include Wonder Woman, Gloria Steinem, and Tina Turner. She has worked in education for over 20 years.
M.S. Art
Mr. Berrios is a Special Education Teacher. Mr. Berrios was born In the beautiful island of Puerto Rico and raised in Newark, New Jersey. He attended the Pontifical Catholic University in Ponce, Puerto Rico where he received his BSN. Mr. Berrios also graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in Special Education. He has taught in a variety of settings in Elementary school, Middle school, High school resource, collaboration, and self-contained. Mr. Berrios taught special education for 17 years in schools in Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana. before coming to Brooklawn. He has been teaching at Brooklawn since 2014. While at Brooklawn, Mr. Berrios has taught self-contained and middle school Social Studies and more recently visual Arts. Mr. Berrios enjoys spending time with his pets which include a dog, birds, and chickens and friends.
H.S. Math
Ms. Brown is a Louisville native and graduate of Eastern High School. She began teaching while completing the Alternative Certification Program through Bellarmine University and has been with JCPS since 2015. Ms. Brown teaches Food Safety and Management (Culinary), Algebra 2/Senior Math and Geometry. Prior to her teaching career, she received her J.D. from the University of Louisville and served as an Assistant Public Advocate for nine years. Ms. Brown enjoys cooking, gardening, reading and the outdoors.
H.S. Science
Ms. Crownover graduated with her Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction for secondary sciences from Wichita State University in 1999 with endorsements at the middle school level, then received her math as well as computer studies endorsement within a year. She had taught Middle School Science for 5 years, then taught high school Physics, Chemistry and Environmental Science for 15 years. Ms. Crownover also taught Principles of Biology and Physics part-time as an adjunct professor at the local community college (Cowley County which subsequently became Wichita Area Technical College, which is now a part of the Wichita State University Technical College) for 15 years. She has had the privilege of teaching with the Jefferson County Public School System for 3 years after relocating from Kansas with a reciprocative State of Kentucky license.

Ms. Fields is a New Orleans, La. native and graduate of Bellarmine University. She began teaching at Whitney Young Elementary and has been with JCPS since 1998. Ms. Fields teaches high school United States and World History. She enjoys travel, cooking, reading, and spending time with family and friends .

Mrs. Mudd has been teaching at Brooklawn for 13 years! Before working for JCPS, she worked as cottage staff for Brooklawn. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from U of L and her rank I from the University of the Cumberlands. She grew up in Louisville and attended school in JCPS.
H.S. Math
I have been teaching Algebra and Personal Finance at Brooklawn for 4 years. Prior to that I was in outside sales for 30 years. My education background includes DeSales High, Western Kentucky and Cumberlands. In my free time, I officiate volleyball and fast pitch softball. I am a blessed man with a fantastic family.
M.S. English Language Arts
Mrs. Winters is an ECE Teacher, primarily in E/LA. This year she will also be teaching a Social Studies class to 6th graders. Mrs. Winters was born and raised in Atlanta, Ga, and left to attend college in Florida. After college, she taught special education for a year and then switched to social work with homeless people. In 1994, she was a government social worker with Disability. In 1999, Mrs. Winters moved to Kentucky and taught special education for one year at another school before coming to Brooklawn. She has been at Brooklawn since 2000. She is married with two grown children, one of whom (daughter Natalie), lives with her. Her other child (son Cody), lives in California with his wife and two children. She also has a dog and two cats. While at Brooklawn, Mrs. Winters has taught self-contained and more recently Language Arts.

Ms. Melzer began her career in education as a bookkeeper at Chancey Elementary in 2008, after several years in corporate America. She received her teaching certification in 2011 through the ACES program (alternative certification), with a bachelor's in Business Management. She received her Masters in Learning Behavior Disorders, in 2020 and joined Brooklawn in the fall of 2022. She have two wonderful sons, 21 and 16.
M.S. Special Education Support
Elizabeth Guthrie has been a teacher for 19 years. She wears many hats at Brooklawn School- providing ECE support and acceleration in all subject areas. She is from Cleveland, Ohio, and a graduate of Eastern Michigan University. Outside of school, she is the mom to two elementary age children and loves to travel.
