Dr. Sarmiento

I am from Lexington, Ky where I attended and played soccer at Transylvania University. I got a BA in mathematics and minored in education.  After graduating from college, I moved to Louisville. I started my teaching career at Seneca High School. I taught freshmen math for 6.5 years. I also have a ME.d in school counseling, E.d.S in Educational Administration, and am finishing a degree in Ed.D in Educational Leadership and Organizational Development. During NTI, I got a Counseling job at Valley High School. I was there for a year and half before making the transition to Ballard. I am married and just had my first child, Theo!

 I also have a German Shepard.

I am thrilled to join the Freshman Academy after being an English teacher here at Ballard for 14 years. I came to JCPS after completing my undergraduate degree in English Education from Miami (OH). I taught a variety of courses before completing a Master's degree as a Reading Specialist from the University of Cumberlands, and then finally completing my Master's degree in School Guidance Counseling from Spalding University. 

I am originally from Columbus, Ohio (Go Bucks!), and I enjoy reading, hiking, and spending time with my two daughters, husband, and dog.
