Dear Families,

We have been learning all about "Birds." In our first module we learned all about bird feathers and how they help them survive. Now we have moved on to the bird beaks being able to identify the beaks and what they look like whether they are curved, long, delicate, or like a spoon. The first graders have been engaged in all the different books that describe the birds beaks and how they help them survive. We have been researchers studying all about the birds and now we are writing about them too!

On another note, we just finished our math assessment on place value with tens and ones and being able to add and subtract tens and ones.  We are now beginning a new unit on adding within 100. Students will be adding a one digit and a two digit number within 100 and add two digit numbers with composing a ten. Students will use equations as well to show their method of how they got the sum.
