Where Everyone Belongs

What is WEB?

Glad you asked!  At our school, Eighth graders apply for this leadership role in order to mentor Sixth graders.  We look for diverse leaders that have varied interests and abilities, because at our school, EVERYONE belongs!  These talented Eighth graders lead, mentor and support Sixth graders on their first day of middle school, and for the entire school year.  In addition to supporting Sixth graders as they transition to middle school our leaders also help Sixth graders by building community, by teaching about growth mindset, responsibility, ownership, and working with others.  This program is part of our passion to ensure that every student in our building is valued, and has what they need to be successful at our wonderful school.

We will welcome Sixth graders to our school on August 15th, 2023 this year on a special Orientation day for WEB leaders and Sixth graders only.  Sixth graders, expect to see an invitation in your inbox by August 1st!

A few words from our wonderful sponsor, Michele Vanags-

"Supporting mountain area students and schools has been a passion for me personally and for my business. Recognizing that we all at some point in our lives feel or have felt that we don’t belong can be difficult. This can be especially challenging when you are a sixth grader going into middle school. The “Where Everyone Belongs Program” at West Jeff Middle is an amazing opportunity for upper classmen to train as leaders offering yearlong mentoring and activities to sixth graders. It therefore is important to me to not only offer my personal support but to provide needed funds through the Michele Vanags State Farm Agency to help ensure that the 2023-2024 WEB Program can be as successful as possible."
