Trash. This doesn't seem like a big problem. Trash is something normal, but we don't recognize that trash is making a BIG difference in the world. People throw away so much trash that manufacturers have to make a bunch more new stuff to sell. That takes a lot of the Earth's natural resources. In fact, according to
The Story of Stuff Project, 1/3 of the Earth's natural resources have been consumed. They're gone. There is also a bunch of trash in the ocean. According to
CNN.com "According to a three-year study published in Scientific Reports Friday, the mass known as the Great Pacific Garbage Patch is about 1.6 million square kilometers in size -- up to 16 times bigger than previous estimates." That's makes it more than double the size of Texas! This is a problem that we must solve before it's too late.
