Hello Vanderhoof Community!


I am excited to begin my 9th year at Vanderhoof and my first year as the Digital Teacher Librarian! Before joining the library team, I taught 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders. 


I am a Colorado Native and am not far from my hometown, Castle Rock. All of my college experience has been in Colorado as well.  I received my Elementary Education License, Bachelor's, and Master's degree from Colorado Christian University and now pursuing a Library Endorsement from University of Colorado Denver. 


My husband, Garrett and I, had quite the summer.  We welcomed our first baby on June 22nd. Her name is Harper and we are loving every minute and milestone. Due to having a newborn, our usual outdoor summer looked a bit different this year.  I was able to read a lot, watch a lot of netflix, and rejuvenate in order to begin a new school year!

Lisa Polacsek - 

Digital Teacher Librarian

I am excited to be at Vanderhoof! I have lived and worked in Arvada most of my life. I graduated from Arvada West and my boys attended Ralston Valley HS. One is  now in mechanical/electrical engineering  at CU and the other is persuing a business degree while playing D2 hockey for the school. I love to spend time skiing, hiking and being with my other two guys...my husband Alan and dog Finn.

I have taught for three decades. Fortunately, I have been able to have many experiences to enhance my teaching and continue to grow and learn. I taught 1st, 4th, and 5th grades before moving into the library. I have a master's degree in Technology in Education and another in Library Sciences/Technology. My passion is helping teachers, students and parents learn to collaborate and incorporate technology into learning.  And of course I love reading and helping students find books to get them excited about reading too.
