Hello!! My name is Missy Vais and I am SO excited to be your Kindergarten teacher this year! Teaching is an absolute passion of mine! I am so excited to work with you and your child! It's going to be a year full of fun, learning and lots of adventure and I can't wait to see what the year has in store for us! I thought you might like to know a little bit about me.
I am married to my high school sweetheart, Danny who is a teacher and coach at Arvada West High School. We have three wonderful children Cooper, Brody and Maddie. I also have two Goldendoodles at home who we adore, Izzy and Berkley! I enjoy all things sports, being outside and spending time with my family and friends!
I have lived in Arvada my whole life and had the wonderful privilege of attending our very own Vanderhoof Elementary!
I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education from University of Northern Colorado. I also received my Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from University of Colorado at Denver.
This is my 20th year of teaching, and 16th year in Kindergarten. I absolutely love teaching Kindergarten! It is my mission to instill a love for learning and risk taking in my students.
I am SO excited to embark on another year of teaching your sweet children and am thrilled to meet each and everyone of you!

Hello! My name is Michelle Poisson, and I’m thrilled to be starting my third year as a kindergarten teacher here at Vanderhoof. I’ve been an early childhood educator in Jeffco for 25 years and still absolutely love teaching young learners. I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Sciences with a minor in Early Childhood Education, as well as a Master’s Degree in Integrating the Arts in Education. Building strong relationships with students is at the heart of my teaching, and I find so much joy in watching them grow and learn!
I’m a proud Arvada native and a graduate of Arvada High School. Fun fact—my husband is the son of my high school history teacher, though we didn’t actually meet until college! He’s now a history teacher and coach at Lakewood High School. We have two amazing kids, Michael and Gabriella, who are both attending Metropolitan State University. Our family also includes our sweet dog, Cameron, who loves going on walks and cuddling on the couch.
In my free time, I enjoy going on walks, cooking and baking, gardening, and shopping. I come from a big, close-knit family, and we love gathering for dinners and celebrations. My faith and family are the foundation of my life and my greatest sources of strength.
I’m so excited for the year ahead—thank you for sharing your wonderful children with me!
