Who am I?

Hi! My name is Ashley Tieman, but please call me Ms. T! Welcome to my page. This year will be my 7th year of teaching. I've taught ESL, ELA, and English in Virginia, Ohio, and now Colorado. I have a Master's degree in TESOL and Sociolinguistics from Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) and a BA in English Literature and Women's Studies from Wright State University (Dayton, OH) in 2012. I am currently adding endorsements in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Education and Gifted and Talented Education to my license, in addition to the endorsements in English, Reading, and ESL already held.

When I'm not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband and our pit bull, Raven, up in the mountains- hiking, camping, and rock climbing. Inside, I love taking care of houseplants and practicing yoga! I'm originally from SW Ohio where my grandparents still live, but my parents have recently relocated to Jacksonville, FL, and my brother is in the Army stationed in El Paso, TX. We're all over the United States!

This year I hope to support our students with eye-opening perspectives and challenges designed to grow their minds and their thinking. We are one family striving towards one common goal: showing decency, respect, and love for all those we encounter in our studies and our lives. I truly believe that all students will be prepared for the 21st century career world after leaving our high school and am proud to offer my piece as one of the ESL teachers here at Jefferson. You, or your student, are in good hands in my class!

Saints on 3!
