I joined the Marshdale Special Education Team in 2007, and I continue to love working with our amazing team, students, staff, and parents.  Before coming to Marshdale, I worked as a Special Education Teacher in Ohio, a 4th grade ELA teacher in Texas, and a Title One Reading Teacher in Colorado.  I earned a Master's Degree in Special Education from the University of Colorado Denver and a Reading Specialist Endorsement from Colorado College.   Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Greg.  We love traveling, cycling, skiing, hiking, and watching Big 10 college football.  I'm an avid runner and enjoy getting out on the trails - especially during the fall!  I love cats and have two adorable rescue kitties - Milo and Lulu.

I started as a Learning Specialist in 2023 and could not be happier to be teaching at Marshdale! I earned my Bachelors degree in Elementary Education with an endorsement in Middle School Math from Emporia State University. After moving from Kansas City, my career began in a private school in Denver. I taught 2nd grade for five years then earned my Masters in Education from Regis University and became a Reading Specialist. During COVID, I went back to school through the University of Northern Colorado to earn my Special Education endorsement. I taught one year in Douglas County before my dream role opened up at Marshdale.

My husband and I love living in Conifer with our three boys, Arlo, Beck, and Coen, two of whom currently attend Marshdale! Outside of school, we love to hike, run, camp, ski, bike, fish, travel, and have as many adventures as possible.

This is my 17th year as an SLP at Marshdale Elementary, and my 33st year as an SLP in this wonderful state.  I have lived in Evergreen for 20 years. I have two children who are both married:

Jake is 32 and is married to Bre. They live in Texas.  Shaina is 30 and is married to Justin.  They have moved back to Colorado! They have one child, my grandbaby, Melanie Shay and another one on the way!  My husband's name is Ken, and we currently have one dog, Louie.   I love to read, hike, kayak, paddleboard and travel.

I am currently assigned to Marshdale Elementary every day, but I also work online with the Jefferson County Virtual School.

I have worked as a school psychologist in Jeffco Schools since 1990.  For the last 19 years I have worked at Marshdale.  My husband and I moved to Evergreen in 1999 to raise our two sons in this amazing place.  In my free time I love being outside hiking, biking, skiing, or snow shoeing.  I currently work full time at Marshdale.  I work 1/2 time in my role with special education students and 1/2 time in my role as a Social Emotional Learning specialist working in all of the classrooms with all of the students at Marshdale.

I have my Masters degree in Deaf/Hard of Hearing Education and a double major in Spanish and Psychology. My science-loving husband and I both teach at Marshdale Elementary School and have 2 amazing children that attend here as well.  

I am a huge nature-lover and grew up in Illinois collecting insects, owl pellets, and climbing trees and peeking into bird nests. My passions include: cultivating a love for all things great and small in my students,  gardening in my geodesic dome greenhouse, tending to my high-elevation fruit trees, and spending time with my kiddos, bunnies, and chickens!
