Matt Schroer- Social Emotional Learning Specialist

This is my third year as a SELS, and my first year at Foster, although I have been a social worker in Jeffco for the last 20 years.  My role as a SELS has a diverse range of duties: helping students to recognize and understand emotions and to develop a toolbox of coping skills.  I also assist teachers with program implementation (such as Second Step) to give students and staff a common language for successful behavioral expectations.  I will also be involved in Restorative Practices, in an effort to strengthen community and to manage conflict.  I also plan to develop group activities in an effort to teach and reinforce development of social skills.

Outside of work I enjoy being active (hiking, biking, and skiing) in the Colorado outdoors with my wife and daughter and our two golden retrievers, Hazel & Phoebe.  Hazel is trained as a therapy dog, and accompanies me sometimes at work!  I also enjoy playing guitar, as well as a few other musical instruments.  In addition to Colorado, I have roots in New York, Texas, Virginia, and North Carolina.  Please feel free to reach out to me at: matthew.schroer@jeffco.k12.co.us

Adam Sweeney - Social Worker/Trabajadora Social

Adam has his Master of Social Work and is working towards his Licensed Clinical Social Work certification. This is his second year at Foster as the school social worker but has been working for Jeffco Public Schools for almost 17 years. In his free time, he loves playing video games and listening to electronic music. He plays multiple musical instruments and is an avid Broncos fan. Adam assesses and supports students in Special Education, students with 504s, facilitates groups for different social-emotional skills, and is part of Foster's school safety team.

Adam tiene una Maestría en Trabajo Social y se encuentra en proceso de obtener su certificación como Trabajador Social Clínico Licenciado. Este es su segundo año en Foster como trabajador social, pero ha estado trabajando para las Escuelas Públicas de Jeffco desde hace casi 17 años. En su tiempo libre le encanta jugar a los videojuegos y escuchar música electrónica. Toca varios instrumentos musicales y es un ferviente hincha de los Broncos. Adam evalúa y apoya a los estudiantes de Educación Especial, a aquellos que están bajo el Programa 504, facilita grupos para diferentes destrezas socioemocionales y es parte del equipo de seguridad escolar de Foster.

Lindsay Stenzel - Therapist/Terapeuta del JCMH

Lindsay has her Master of Social Work and is currently working toward clinical licensure. This is her first year at Foster as the school-based therapist for Jefferson Center for Mental Health. In her free time, Lindsay likes to spend time with friends and family, cook, read, and watch reality TV. Lindsay provides therapy services for students at Foster.
