Hello! My name is Mrs. Salazar and I am so excited to be your English teacher this year. I teach English 9 and Senior Lit Study(Senior Project). I have been teaching 11 years with 10 of those years here at Bear Creek.

I live with my husband and my baby, Asher. I have three other room mates at my house, my three cats: Harper, Tara, and Tag. I love cats and aspire to be a crazy cat lady one day (although many of my students say I've already reached crazy status). I'm a big nerd. I play a lot of video games. My favorite forms of gaming are PC or my Switch. Right now, I've been really into Breath of the Wild and Pokemon Unite on the Switch and Elder Scrolls Online on my PC. I love Harry Potter, Pokemon, Marvel, comic books, graphic novels, manga, Disney, anime. Comics, graphic novels, and pop culture are a huuuuge part of my teaching style. I try to incorporate all three things in every unit I teach. For the past few years, I have been a presenter at both Denver Pop Culture Con and San Diego comic-com talking about the benefits of incorporating pop culture, comics, and graphic novels in a Language Arts classroom.

I can't wait to get to know you all. My favorite part of my job is building relationships with my students and watching them grow over the course of the year in my class. I have high expectations for my students because I know that every student is capable of excelling in my class. While learning obviously takes the forefront, I also like to have fun while we do it.
