Teaching is my passion and I couldn't think of a better profession! I am going on my 20th year of teaching with experience in kindergarten, first, and second grade. I completed my master's degree in curriculum instruction and thrive on being a life long learner. I have taught in Jefferson County for 16 years and 4 years in the Boston area, where my children were born.

I have been married for 16 years to my husband, Scott. We have two children, Noah (11) and Addie (13).

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy hiking, running, skiing, camping, and overall being with my family and being outdoors.

I believe that all children are capable of learning and have a right to learn in a safe, positive and nurturing environment. I feel that partnership with teacher/parent is crucial in order for each child's success in the his/her educational career.

I look forward to an amazing year teaching your child!

My name is Colleen Welch. This is my 27th year of teaching, 26 of those years have been in 1st grade. I have been teaching at Ryan Elementary since 1998.

I absolutely LOVE 1st grade!

I grew up in Arvada and went to Jefferson County schools from Kindergarten through 12th grade. I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development with a concentration in Child Development. I also have a Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.

My family includes my husband and 2 teenage daughters. My oldest is at CU Boulder and my youngest is in high school. When I am not at school, I am likely watching my kids play sports or hanging out with my family.

My favorite things include mexican food, reading, watching movies, and just hanging out with my family.

I am so happy to be part of the Ryan family! This is my 6th year teaching and 2nd year at Ryan. My first year teaching, I taught literacy intervention for students K-6. I have been teaching 1st grade since and wouldn't have it any other way!

I am originally from the Bay Area, California. I received my bachelor's degree and elementary teaching credential from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. My husband, Matt, and I moved from California to Colorado two years ago, and we are so happy to be in this gorgeous state while furthering our careers!

When I'm not in the classroom, I enjoy cooking and trying new restaurants, exercising, walking my silver lab, Luna, and doing yard work in my little family's new house. My husband and I are mountain people at heart, so we love escaping to the mountains for skiing and snowboarding.

Ryan's community is like no other, and I am so happy to be part of it with you!
