About me...

This will be my 11th year at Wayne Carle Middle School and my 12th year teaching. I grew up in the community graduating from Pomona High School, and going on to get my education degree from Regis University.

Teaching Social Studies is a great passion of mine. I think it is important for students to develop strong critical thinking skills so that they can be active members of society. In our ever-growing and complex world, it is so important that every student can look at the world and identify the complexity of what is going on. Through this year students will have opportunities to analyze Ancient Civilizations, the ever-growing connectedness of developing societies, and how countries and governments address the issues that arise from that growth. It is important to me that citizens develop their own belief systems through research and application. I encourage you to ask about the work that we are doing this year!

I have loved being a part of the Wayne Carle Family for the past ten years. We have passionate teachers that work hard to build a learning community that supports all students' growth throughout the year.

The most important lesson I want my students to learn this year is to embrace the struggle, some times there is no right or wrong answer, and the end goal is not always a letter grade it's how much you have learned along the way.

If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to reach out.

Wayne Carle Standards Based Education

Wayne Carle is a Standards Based Grading School. We care deeply about student success in relation to state standards as well as in developing a strong work ethic. In our efforts to ensure that the focus of grades remains on student progress toward these goals, two separate grades will be reported: Content Knowledge/Skills and Work Habits.  The Content Knowledge/Skills scale is designed to help students and families understand where students are on the learning continuum (in relation to state standards). Work Habits grades will reflect the student’s attainment of work habits and of a successful student, such as engagement, preparedness and perseverance.  Standards based grading is something new to Wayne Carle this year and understandably there will be questions. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns.

*** Please remember to click into each grade standard in campus so that you can see the progress of your student growth for each standard.

*** Grades/ Missing assignments posted in google classroom do not reflect overall grades. Infinite Campus is the only place to locate students up to date grades.
