Overview

World History focuses on key historic themes and evaluates how those themes are present in our current global culture.  Students will explore how events of the past have influenced and shaped their lives and society today.  The purpose is not to memorize facts, dates, and names of dead people, but instead to come to a historical understanding of how one's own actions shape the lives of others in the present and future.  In order to distinguish this class from a western civilization course which focuses on European History, we will make sure to thoroughly examine historical events throughout the world including Africa, Asia, and South America.
