About This Class

Daily Routine

Meditation: We will focus on our breathing and meditate after morning announcement. Meditation at school benefits students in ways such as increased positive emotions, stronger self-identity, and greater self-acceptance. It is reported to reduce anxiety, stress, and depression.

Review Homework/Online Work: Homework is due the next day after it is assigned unless otherwise specified. Make-up work will be accepted in accordance with school policy. Late work will be accepted for up to a week after the end of a unit, or a week before the end of the trimester. Late work will be graded at full credit, but points will be deducted from a student's work habits grade for each assignment received late. The following rubric will be used for grading written homework, that is not assigned online.

  • 5/5—Little to no mistakes, can perform skill accurately, and accomplished challenging problems.

  • 4/5— Few mistakes, can perform skill accurately.

  • 3/5— Can perform skill with reasonable accuracy, could use more practice.

  • 2/5—Mostly incorrect, cannot perform skill with consistent accuracy, needs to re-do assignment.

  • 1/5—Incomplete, needs to come in for help and re-do assignment.

Homework includes practice and review core subjects from notes or alternative worksheets, online homework problems, writing assignments, reading assignments, projects, or taking notes from online videos. All homework can be found on the class agenda and in Google Classroom. Homework can be corrected for up to 100% credit up to the end of the unit.

Class work: We will be working together to meet Colorado academic standards, and follow the district pacing. This will take place through lecture, group work, discussion, discovery, projects/application reading, and writing. Students will work in cooperative pairs, groups, individually, and remotely during hybrid class times.

Expectations

I have high expectations for students. We will be working hard every day, so students should be on time and prepared for class each day. Students will receive homework on days I feel they need more practice on certain topics. Students should obey school, team, and class rules at all times. (Classroom and team expectations can be found under the documents tab or by clicking here.)
