As a veteran teacher of 14 years, I have found joy in watching students grow in confidence with reading, writing, and math skills. Many different research-based curriculums come and go, but what remains the same is a classroom built on trust and risk-taking. A safe space where students can learn to thrive and feel confident is essential to learning for students with disabilities. Along with a Master's degree in Humanities, I am also a parent of a child with a disability. I have been on both sides of the conference table in IEP meetings. Please rest assured that your child is in good hands!
I have worked previously in Denver Public Schools and Sheridan School District, where I have had the unique opportunity to teach under the leadership of inspiring principals and educators. I have also given presentations at special education conferences such as "Courage to Risk," and have been a member of The Council for Exceptional Children. My goal this year is to help your students reach those goals that they have set for themselves.
As you may or may not know, I am also a dog trainer. Dogs have thoroughly enriched my life and given me a side career. Another goal of mine is to have an emotional therapy dog to help people with disabilities or medical issues.
I look forward to working alongside you and your child (I love the way they make me laugh)!
