About Mrs. Schaetzle

This is my tenth year in education! Although I am a Colorado native, I spent my first five years teaching in New York City, working in The Bronx and Brooklyn. After I moved back home, I taught in Denver, until making my home at Conifer High School. I love the community and feel proud to be a lobo!

I earned my undergraduate degree in Psychology and English Education at The University of Colorado-Boulder. Go Buffs! My Master's degree is in Education from Hunter College in Manhattan. I am happy to discuss my college experiences with you as you plan your future.

My husband and I have a one-year old son, Teddy and two aussies, Scout and Poppy. I love to listen to podcasts, bake sour dough bread, and ski.

I am currently reading The Plague by Albert Camus and Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples. Let's discuss!

About English

I am passionate about the power of the written word. Being a competent reader and writer is essential to any career. My hope is to support your growth as a student and person, in order maximize your future opportunities.

Sadly, many students make their way through high school without reading a book. In my class, that will not be the case. Engaging with our class texts is paramount to your learning and success.

I will work hard to ensure that you learn a ton by providing clear structure and feedback. I want to get to know you individually to best support you as a learner.

English 11 focuses on world literature; we will read texts from across time and space to better understand our history and future.

English 10 Honors is a rigorous pre-AP course, which studies American literature.
