All-County Middle School Honor Ensembles
All-County Band/Orchestra/Jazz Band is on hold for the 2020-2021 school year.
Colorado West Invitational Music Performance Festival
Our 8th grade band and orchestra students attend the Colorado West Invitational Music Performance Festival in Grand Junction in late April. The festival, hosted by Mesa County Valley School District 51 and Colorado Mesa University, is open to middle and high school band, choir, orchestra, and jazz ensembles.
Zupko Music Composition
Professional composer Dr. Mischa Zupko joined forces with Ms. Sarché to commission a new piece of music, written specifically by and for our West Jeff Middle music students. Upon completion, the piece of original music was rehearsed, published, and the students performed a world premiere during the 2018-2019 school year.
Dr. Zupko first visited our school in March 2018 to begin discussions and workshops with the students. He visited our school twice during the 2018-2019 school year to collaborate with the students on the final composition, and he was in Colorado for the world premiere on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 in our school gymnasium.
