Hello Families! My name is Sarah Ferdig, and I am incredibly excited to be joining the Westridge team! Years ago, I was a student teacher at Westridge in 2nd grade and knew that someday I wanted to return to this amazing school. Here I am, and I couldn't be more thrilled - especially to be teaching 2nd grade again!
My husband Cliff and I live in Morrison. We are both Colorado natives; me growing up in Golden and he in Arvada. Can you believe we met at Casa Bonita where we both worked while in college? My kids were convinced at one time that I was one of the divers and their dad was the gorilla. Eventually, we had to break the news to them that our positions were not that thrilling. We have three adult children, all living here in Colorado. Our oldest, Nathan, is a healthcare insurance agent. Our second, Andrew, is an aspiring classical percussionist (while taking auditions, he is enjoying subbing for the Colorado Symphony, giving private lessons, and supervising at Whole Foods). My daughter Emma, is taking after her momma and is a high school science teacher in Greeley. We also have a dog named Bella, a cat named Aria, and a turtle named Shells.
My favorite activities (outside of teaching your kiddos) are walking, hiking, camping, reading, traveling, and spending quality time with family and friends. This summer, my husband and I celebrated our 30th anniversary at one of our favorite places to visit, the Oregon Coast. The picture on the top is us at Yaquina Bay Lighthouse.
Teaching has always been my passion, although I didn't know that when I received my first degree in Human Services. I eventually went back to school to get my teaching license and Masters in Curriculum and Development. It was a great decision because I cannot see myself doing anything else. I absolutely love developing relationships with students and watching them grow and succeed over our year together. I have taught all grades except Kinder and 5th and am excited to get back to 2nd grade. I am looking forward to working with you and your child this year! It will be a great one!
