about mrs. Rose

Hi!

I have been living in Colorado for twelve years now! I moved here with my family, Bill (my wonderful husband) and Phoenix (my sweet daughter), in hopes of finding our forever home in a community we love. The southwest side of Denver is a perfect mix of mountain access and city opportunities. We enjoy camping, hiking, relaxing by the fire pit, experiencing the art scene, and watching movies. We love the life we've built and treasure every moment!

I am in my 16th year of teaching elementary art. I started my career in Topeka, KS and then relocated to Colorado in 2009. I am interested in teaching young artists a variety of art techniques and exposing them to a long list of influential master artists. However, my true passion is teaching problem solving skills through artistic choice.

I received my Master of Arts in Fine Art from Regis University (Denver, CO) and my Bachelor of Art Education and Bachelor of Art History from Drury University (Springfield, MO).

Why orange?

You may have noticed that I love the color orange. My art cart is orange, one of my bulletin boards stays orange all year long, and if I have the chance to choose a color for anything (even my highlighter!), then orange is likely the final decision. Let's just say that....

If I were a crayon, I'd be the orange one!

Orange symbolizes all that is artistic. It offers energy and exudes enthusiasm. It demands the eye's attention, encourages the brain to light up, and strengthens young and vibrant hearts. It rests in precisely the place that one needs to live in order to be creative... half way between danger (red) and caution (yellow). It symbolizes balance on a fine line between chaos and safety.

Orange is also of the earth. The desert rock of Utah, the setting sun in front of a Florida beach, and the neon corals of remote Thai waters are all examples of just how perfect orange is in our world.

Which color crayon are you?
