Hello Third Grade Families,
My name is Yvette Brittain and I am looking forward to being your teacher this year! 3rd grade is such a great year for building confidence and taking risks!
I graduated from Regis University with my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I also received my certification for Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) through Regis University in 2016. This is my twelfth year teaching at Mitchell - I spent nine years in fourth grade and this is my third year in third grade!
When I am not teaching, I enjoy getting outdoors, seeing the latest blockbuster, working on puzzles, and traveling as much as we can. Most of all, I love spending time with my wonderful family - Mr. Brittain, our son - Zane, our daughter - Sloane, and our two dogs - Bear and Moose.
Hello! Welcome to 3rd Grade!
3rd grade is full of teamwork and individual growth! We will become hard workers, flexible thinkers, leaders, and community builders. This is my eighth year at Mitchell Elementary teaching 3rd grade and I am thrilled to be your teacher this year. I look forward to sharing my passion for learning with you and partnering with your family this year. I believe that a great classroom is built on teamwork, perseverance, curiosity, and respect and I'm committed to creating a positive and engaging learning environment for everyone. My goal is to empower each child to become a confident, lifelong learner.
As a proud Colorado native, I'm a big fan of all things local—I grew up right here in Jeffco Public Schools before heading to the University of Northern Colorado where I studied Elementary Education, Earth Science, and Sociology.
In my free time, I enjoy being crafty, decorating my home and classroom, traveling, fishing, baking, playing games, cheering on the Broncos, and spending time with my wonderful husband, family, friends, and of course, my dog Cinder!
Let's have a wonderful year together!
Hello Mustang Families,
My name is Jennifer Sierra and I am very excited to be your teacher this year. This is my 18th year in education and my 9th year with Jefferson County Public Schools. I have taught from K to 4th grade. I am really looking forward to working with you to advance your students’ education. I cannot wait to get to know all of you.
I am a native Coloradoan. I love living so close to the mountains! I am a mother of 4. I have 3 sons, Joshua, Jacob, and Jordan, and 1 daughter, Jorja. I have been married to Mr. Sierra for 27 years. I have 1 granddaughter and another one on the way. I have 3 dogs, Copper, Marvin, and Koko.
When I am not teaching or learning, I like to spend time with my family. We spend lots of time playing games, adventuring around town and visiting friends. As a family we spend as much time together as possible, one of our favorite things to do is have a meal together and laugh.
I love watching sports. Colorado teams are my favorite. I would say that softball is my favorite sport. Jorja has played competitively for 11 years. She is on her way this year to play collegiately at Chadron State College, in Nebraska.
I love to have fun and make learning meaningful. My passion is learning and helping others love learning. I am excited for this school year and all the adventures that this will bring.
Welcome to the 2025/2026 school year. This will be my 27th year teaching in Jefferson County. My academic career started with a Bachelor of Science in Speech and Hearing Science from University of Washington. I worked in a center program for students diagnosed with Autism. Then, I made the move to Denver, Colorado, where most of my family lives. I attended the University of Colorado-Boulder campus for my Master's degree in Elementary Education. I continued my education with an endorsement in Special Education.
I started my career teaching special education for six years. After that, I began my classroom experience teaching fourth grade for 6 years and then moved to teaching second grade for 7 years. This will be my eighth year teaching third grade at Mitchell Elementary. I love teaching third grade, and I am so excited to start a new year.
My passion outside of school involves rescuing dogs. For nine years, I have been volunteering with Rocky Mountain Lab Rescue. I volunteer about 5 hours a week helping out with various tasks including coordinating events, interviewing perspective adopters, mentoring new fosters, and heart worm prevention for our doggies. During the summer, I spend a lot of time fundraising for the rescue. I have fostered 8 dogs with the rescue. My last foster dog became my foster failure after 10 months because I decided she had found her forever home with me. Although, I think she knew that on day one.
