2020 Rest of the Year Grading Policy

“The grade that your student had on March 12th will be the baseline grade for the rest of the trimester. That grade will remain the same or can improve as long as they continue to engage in their classes. Teachers will continue to grade work for the remainder of the trimester just like they normally would. At the end of the school year, teachers will compare the March 12th grade to the end of the trimester grade, and give your student the higher grade of the two.

March 12th grades will be communicated to students and families by Tuesday, April 21st. There will be an assignment with a grade listed in Campus called “March 12 Grade”. You will be receiving several notifications over the next few days as teachers work in Campus to calculate this grade. Please ignore these notifications. You can watch this short video created by a teacher at Arvada West HS with your student that explains how the March 12 Grade will be calculated in the system.

A student’s grade will be impacted negatively by non-participation. It is imperative that students continue to engage in their learning as it sets them up for success in the fall and for future coursework.”
