Frequently Asked Questions

How and when can I access peer tutoring?

Peer tutoring is available during 7th hour. Students may reach out to me directly to be set up with a tutor. The student and their tutor will meet weekly in my room to review mathematical concepts.

My student is performing well on their homework but poorly on the tests. Why? How can I help?

If your child is performing well on their homework but that success isn't transferring to the tests, there could be a few reasons. First, they could be relying too heavily on their notes while doing their homework. Our tests are not open note, and memorization of important concepts and definitions can improve their chances to perform better on assessments. If they struggle with memorization, making notecards of concepts and definitions and practicing with those notecards each night may improve their memorization! Additionally, some students may be relying too heavily on the answers in the back of the book or their friends homework. A possible solution to improving your students test score could be to sit with them or monitor them while they work on their problem set. If you notice they're not working through each problem authentically, you can correct their behavior and help them intentionally complete their homework each night.Â
