I joined the Open School community in 2002. Time flies when you're having fun and love what you do! I was a Walkabout Advisor for ten years before I became a Foundations Advisor!
I have always had a passion for music and teaching, so I went to school in upstate New York to become a music educator at the Crane School of Music. I taught at three traditional schools before I found my way home to the Open School. While here, I discovered another passion- the wilderness. I received my MA in adventure education with a concentration in wilderness therapy from Prescott College. I can be found teaching secondary music classes and wilderness focused trips.
I consider myself a life-long learner. I have begun an adventure of starting my small home farm, Wonder Meadow Farm. We have llamas, alpacas, sheep, dairy goats, chickens, ducks, bees, and a bunny, cat, tortoise, and basset hound. I love everything and anything having to do with fiber arts. I also do a lot of llama hiking and just enjoying all of our creatures! And no, llamas don't really spit often and only at each other- llamas get such a bad rap!
I have a wonderful family. My husband, Brent, teaches science at Evergreen High School. We feel lucky to have our kids, Winter and Indi, at the Open School! We spend time together playing with our animals, skiing, hiking, and playing music.
