Computer Applications and Computer Science
In these Computer Application and Computer Science courses you will be learning how to use technology in innovative ways, including several projects using technology. You will be challenged to think critically and develop communication and problem solving skills. Effective on-line navigation, global communication, utilization of graphic arts programs, coding and the creation of interactive multimedia presentations are all part of these dynamic classes. Students will learn about Google Drive, which includes word processing, spreadsheets, forms, and presentations. These courses will include digital Keyboarding skills. Proper keyboarding techniques, accuracy, and speed emphasizing literacy will be practiced throughout the course.
Course Goals and Objectives:
- Students will learn and apply new skills using variety of computer applications.
- Students will demonstrate independence and self-motivation.
- Students will demonstrate effective team-working skills.
A little about me...
I have been teaching for 19 years at Drake. I have taught both 7th and 8th grade science as well as computer applications and computer science. My spare time is spent with my family. My family includes my wife, daughter, son and few family animals. We spend hours riding our bikes, hiking, playing disc golf, and going to the mountains. My favorite sport is soccer but I will not pass up watching a Broncos game (Super Bowl 50 Champs). I am a Colorado Native and enjoy spending time traveling. In fact, one of my favorite jobs of all times, was being a ranch hand one summer in Southern Colorado. This will be an exciting year as I continue the change to teaching computer science.
