My name is Julian Kramer and I am the art teacher at Mitchell Elementary.
Growing up in Montclair, New Jersey, I was exposed to the arts from a young age. I played saxophone for ten years but after deciding to take an art class my junior year of high school, I knew that I wanted to pursue visual art in some capacity. After two years at McDaniel College, a small liberal arts college in Maryland, I transferred to Pratt Institute, an art school in Brooklyn, New York. I graduated with a BFA in Art and Design Education.
In New York City, I gained experience student teaching in multiple NYC Public Schools, as well as a homeless shelter and also Saturday Art School at Pratt, a program for middle school students in the community.
Upon my graduation, I moved to Denver, where I worked as a Site Director for the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. I directed before and after school programs as well as day camps. In 2016, I began my art teaching career in Cherry Creek School District and later moved to Douglas County School District.Â
Last year, I earned a Masters in Art Education through University of Nebraska Kearney.
I am so excited to continue teaching and bringing my experience and enthusiasm to Mitchell Elementary and Jeffco Schools!
