About Mrs. Chism

Hi there! I'm Jerelyn and this is my eleventh year teaching at Elk Creek Elementary. I can't imagine a more joyful and dynamic career in a more beautiful and welcoming community! I taught 1st grade for five years and this is my sixth year in Kindergarten! I am so excited for this new school year and cannot wait to meet and learn about my new students and their families! 

I graduated from CU Boulder with my BA in English Literature and I completed my MA in Teaching at MSUD.  I was born in California but moved to Colorado as I was going into middle school and graduated from Conifer High School. Both of my younger brothers attended Elk Creek! 

I now live in Morrison with my husband, Dan, our 6 year old son Jack, our  4 year old daughter Maeve, our 18 month old son Paul, and our goldendoodle Max. We love to spend time outside in the incredible beauty of Colorado!

Some of my favorite things include: 

THE OUTDOORS (especially the beach)

ANIMALS (especially elephants, dogs and sea turtles)

MUSIC ( SO many favs including Hozier,  Noah Kahan, and Olivia Dean)

I love ... LEARNING, TEACHING, SWIMMING, READING, TRAVELING and HIKING  

I am SO excited to learn about my students, their strengths, their struggles, and THEIR favorites!!
