At Wayne Carle, all core and elective classes utilize the following practices to measure student mastery of the content and state standards of learning.
Standards are still your categories
Measure of knowledge, understanding, and skill in the subject area in relation to the standards
Assess what students know (tests, quizzes, final projects, authentic assessments, other forms of assessment, etc.).
In education, the term assessment refers to the wide variety of methods or tools that educators use to evaluate, measure, and document the academic readiness, learning progress, skill acquisition, or educational needs of students.
Content Progress- committing to input assignments as part of a calculated grade.
Measure of knowledge, understanding, and skill in the subject area in relation to the standards.
Content Progress reflects tasks completed to demonstrate understanding of content knowledge for in-class learning. This will hopefully help increase communication through Infinite Campus for students and families.
If an in-class learning assignment is nearly completed in class but a student needs some extra time and completes these assignments outside of class, this would still be considered a Content Progress grade. Daily assignments need to be accessed and worked on in class during work time.
A mastery grade allows teachers and students to see where student learning is at the end of unit/standard ... .grades will calculate along the way showing content progress to allow for family communication and student awareness.
Work Habits
Work Habits grades are based on student demonstration of engagement and work completion (including homework grades).
Work habits hold a range of skills that are assessed including engagement, preparation for class, meeting deadlines and due dates, and utilizing class time wisely.
School-Wide Revision of content progress:
All work is expected to be turned in/submitted according to the established timeline/due date. All teachers accept late work that is instructionally current.
Instructionally current is defined as assignments/work within the current unit of study or grading term. These assignments/work will be accepted for full credit according to the grade earned by the student.
A student who wants to make up missing assignments at the end of the semester may not be able to make up assignments from early in the grading period if not instructionally current.
Student Responsibilities:
It is the responsibility of the student to communicate with the teacher regarding the preparation needed and retaking/redoing an assessment.
It is the responsibility of the student to demonstrate to the teacher they have engaged with adequate preparation work before requesting a redo opportunity.
Accessing google classrooms when not in the school building is a great resource for students and families around student absence.
WCMS Grading Scale

Grade-level elements are present; continued support and practice is needed to meet grade-level standards.
Does Not Yet Meet Standard
1.99-1 (D)
Growth is needed to meet grade-level standards; significant support or intervention is needed.
Insufficient Evidence
IE - Would not be calculated into the grade.
There is not yet enough evidence to determine the student’s achievement of the grade level standard.
