Welcome to Jeffco's Gifted Parent Academy! The Gifted & Talented Department offers four different online courses to help parents of gifted children gain a deeper understanding of their child or children and load up their tool boxes with effective strategies for greater success and well-being:

• The Gifted Child - This course will introduce you to the needs and nature of gifted children. It will also give you tools and strategies for navigating GT in Jeffco and helping your child find more happiness and success both in and out of the classroom.
• Social Emotional Needs - This course will delve deep into the social emotional world of gifted children. You will gain tools and strategies for helping your intense, overexcitable, asynchronous child better cope with the world around him or her.
• The Twice-Exceptional Child - This course will help you deepen your understanding of twice-exceptionality. You will also gain tools and strategies for advocacy as well as for helping your 2e child find more success and happiness.
• The Visual Spatial Thinker - This course will introduce you to the needs and nature of Visual Spatial (Non-Verbal) ways of thinking and processing. You will gain tools and strategies for helping your visual child bridge the gap in auditory-sequential environments and find more success in school and life.

Course Specifics

Content: Each course consists of 6 sessions. Courses are open enrollment, meaning that you can start anytime and work your way through at your own pace. Each session will have readings, videos, online resources, and practical tools/strategies for you to try. In every other session there is an opportunity to interact directly with the facilitator via an online journal. There is also an open discussion board for participats to connect to other parents in the course.

Format: Courses are conducted entirely through Jeffco Schoology Groups online. Once you have registered and paid, you will receive an access code for your course. You simply log onto Jeffco Schoology using your Parent Portal information.

Price: $35 per family. Payment information is included in the registration form.
