Splatoon 3 is a third-person shooter. Players choose to be either an "Inkling" or "Octoling" as their player character. Both wield weaponry that shoots colored ink. Weapons are diverse in ability and imagery, with most resembling household objects.

This is a kart-racing game in which players compete with characters from the Mario universe. As players race against other drivers, they can use whimsical power-ups (e.g., turtle shells, fireballs, boomerangs) to impede opponents' progress and knock enemies off the tracks. Colorful explosions and dizzy stars accompany the action. Additionally, there are 48 courses and 42 characters to choose from—the biggest roster in the series!
