Since 1969, Golden High School has run raft trips for the junior class. This year we currently have a permit for a trip that will leave on Friday April 27th (leaving during 7th block) through Monday April 30 (back around 8pm). In addition, we are also working to get one or two more permits at the end of May/first part of June. For the day trip in April we will be running the Green River in Utah. We camp at Split Mountain campsite in Dinosaur National Park and run that stretch iof river for 2 days. The day in between we hike in Dinosaur Monument. If we are able to get a permit for the May/June time frame it will be in the Desolation Gray Canyon along the Green River, and will be a 5 day/4 night trip.
20 juniors can go on each trip and it will be filled on a first come/first serve basis. The cost of either trip will be $300. A $50 non-refundable deposit will hold your student’s spot on one of the trips. There will be a sign up sheet in the financial office and the financial secretary can take the deposit at that time as well. If for some reason we are unable to get a permit for May/June, you will be refunded your deposit. There will be staff members that will be coming into your student’s classrooms on Monday/Tuesday to give them any additional details or answer any questions you or they may have.
Additionally, we will be holding a mandatory parent meeting in early April for those who have signed up for a trip. At that meeting we will have medical forms and permission slips for you to sign. If you have any questions, please feel free to email Adam.Mitchell@jeffco.k12.co.us or have your student speak to Mrs. Stokes, Mitch, Mr. Mendoza, or Amber Hayes.
