Welcome!
Our 2025 XC season is around the corner!
General Information: Cross Country is open to all 6th, 7th, and 8th graders, from seasoned runners to absolute beginners. Our coaching staff will help each and every athlete develop to their potential. This sport is great for meeting people and making new friends at the start of the school year. Practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 4:15 pm - 5:30 pm and are arranged into workouts appropriate for all levels. If you want to get involved and are committed to learning to be a better runner and teammate, this is the place for you!
Registration: Please get registered through Lakewood MSSP HERE, scroll down, and click on "Dunstan Coed 6-8th Cross Country". You'll need to log in or create an account to complete registration.
2025 First Day of Practice: Practice begins on Monday, August 25th at 4:15 pm and will end at 5:30 pm. We will meet in the Band room on the first day of practice and get to know each other before we dress to run. Be sure you are registered through Lakewood Youth Programs and Activities for the first day. Please bring shorts, a t-shirt, running shoes, a watch, and a water bottle. You can carry these items in your backpack or an additional bag labeled with your first and last name. During practice, bags will be stored in the band room. See you there!
Practices will be on Mondays and Wednesdays, 4:15 pm - 5:30 pm, from Aug. 25th through Oct. 15th. Throughout our season, we will train for multiple races ranging from 2k-4k (1.25 miles to 2.5 miles) against other Jeffco schools (Alameda, Creighton, Carmody, and D'Evelyn).
Schedule: All meets are after school. Parents are responsible for transportation.

The Bigger Picture: Who are we? The Dunstan Middle School XC Team is just one small piece of a much larger puzzle. Cross Country is about running as a team. However, it is also about community, connections, and commitment to success on a personal level. Dunstan provides the feeder program for Green Mountain (Green Mountain Nation XC). It starts here with our program. In Cross Country, each member of the team is valued as an individual and a contributing teammate. While some athletes may have incredible talent, uncanny dedication, or years of experience, the runners who are out for the first time or who are just developing their taste for long distance have just as much worth.
Cross Country is also all about FUN! Running hurts. Running is hard! We all know that, and we take pride in the knowledge that practice can be hard and races are painful, but we are out here doing it. So, our season is full of games and team-building. The connections are just as important as the workouts.
During Cross Country, we encourage and welcome parent and family involvement--our runners need your support. Come run with the team on a Saturday, cheer at meets, follow the high school program, volunteer to help take pictures, provide snacks, and become members of the Cross Country "Family." Welcome aboard!
