Mrs. Ruth Ann Coy is a dedicated music educator with over a decade of experience in Colorado public schools. She holds degrees in Violin Performance and Music Education, as well as a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Mrs. Coy currently teaches 6th through 8th grade orchestra at Drake Middle School, where she has doubled the program in three years to over 200 students across five classes.
Her ensembles regularly earn Superior and Excellent ratings at the Colorado ASTA Festival and perform at events such as Jeffco’s Middle School Art Show and the Jeffco School Board meeting. In 2025, 104 of her students earned straight Superior ratings at CASTA Regionals and qualified for CASTA State—an honor achieved by only three other middle school programs statewide. In 2026, nearly 60 students performed at the ASTA National Orchestra Festival in San Francisco in Spring 2026.
Mrs. Coy has been recognized as a Jeffco Talented Teacher (2023) and received the Jeffco Thrives Award (2025). She has presented at the Colorado State Music Educators Conference, serves as a violin coach at Camp Con Brio, and regularly adjudicates Solo and Ensemble festivals. An active performer, she is a violinist of the Stratus Chamber Orchestra and also maintains a private string studio.
