ALL STATE OPENING NUMBER!

This year, we’ll kick off opening ceremonies at the middle and high school conferences with an All State Opening Number! If you have students, grades 8-12 who are interested in auditioning to be a part of the all state opening number cast, please have them review this information and submit their audition tape BEFORE the Friday, October 22 deadline. We cannot accept late submissions. Encourage students to have fun with it and do their best!

Here are some things to be aware of for cast members of the All State Opening Number:

  • Cast members are responsible for learning much of the choreography and music on their own via videos from the choreographer and working with their individual vocal coaches, choir teachers, voice teachers, or family musicians. Strong singers/musicians are encouraged to audition.

  • The cast will meet via Zoom with the choreographer twice to ask questions, receive coaching, and meet each other. Those Zoom rehearsals are scheduled for November 1 and November 29 in the evening.

  • The cast must be present at both the middle school and high school conference (any 8th grader who is cast can leave the high school conference after opening ceremonies).

  • At the middle school conference, cast members will meet with the vocal director to put the parts together including working through solos.

  • After the vocal work, cast members will go to the Bellco stage with the choreographer to place and space the choreography for the number. Exact times and locations of these rehearsals will be released to those cast, but keep in mind, attendance on December 2 is mandatory for all high school cast members.

SENIOR UNIVERSITY AND SCHOLARSHIP AUDITIONS

This year, senior auditions will be submitted virtually. This program is open only to seniors (class of 2022) and students must create their profile and upload their audition video by visiting thespianpointtracker.com and creating their account. Many schools will be in attendance for in person callbacks while others may hold their callbacks virtually. Stay tuned for more information on the over 30 schools who usually attend the conference and how they’ll make their presence known at this year’s conference.

Here are some reminders about the university, college, and scholarship program:

  • Open only to seniors

  • Students must create their account and fill in the information at thespianpointtracker.com This is where they’ll upload their video audition (acting, musical theatre, tech) as well

  • Seniors must have a 2.5 minimum GPA to audition. Failure to do so will result in removal from the audition process.

  • Seniors must be inducted Thespians before the deadline of November 10. Failure to have an INDIVIDUAL THESPIAN NUMBER (not a troupe number) will result in removal from the audition process.

  • Seniors MUST register to audition by the November 10 deadline. Encourage students to complete the process early to avoid any last minute emergencies.

  • Seniors MUST upload their video audition or tech presentation by the November 18 deadline.

  • NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN IF STUDENTS REGISTER AND FAIL TO COMPLETE THE ABOVE PROCESS OR MEET THE MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS.

  • The Colorado Thespians Dr Jay Seller Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $2,000 in the categories of acting, musical theatre, and technical theatre. College auditors select the winners from all auditions seen throughout the process.
