OVERVIEW

AP 2D Art and Design or AP Drawing is a college level course. The AP Art Portfolios has two sections: Sustained Investigation and Selected Works. Students either enter the 2D Design portfolio or the Drawing portfolio.

SUSTAINED INVESTIGATION (60% of final score) - In this section you create 15 images to document their inquiry-guided investigation through practice, experimentation, and revision. In addition to the 15 digital images, a written response is required. Typed responses to prompts, providing information about the inquiry-guided investigation is required and graded.

SELECTED WORKS (40% of final score)- In this section you choose your 5 works of art, design and writing that demonstrate skillful synthesis of MATERIALS, PROCESSES, and IDEAS. Here can place work that you have completed in the Sustained Investigation section as well as new work you have created outside of your investigation. Cohesion is important and we will discuss this more during the course. The work in this section may not exceed 18" x 24", 2021-22 school year requires student to physically mail in these 5 pieces of work to the College Board. A written typed section for each submission is required and graded.
