Hello Creighton Community,

I am Michael Heckendorn - kids usually call me Mr. H - and I am the 6th grade counselor at Creighton Middle School (CMS). I have been a school counselor for 6 years and this is my 3rd year at CMS. I have my masters degree in school counseling from Indiana State Universty and I am a licensed school counselor (SSP) and a licensed professional counselor (LPC) in Colorado.

As a counselor, I am here to support our students, staff, family members, and larger community. I do this by building relationships, extending understanding and empathy, using humor, and consistently doing what is best for kids. It is always a joy to work with middle schoolers and I'm so excited to be the counselor for our incoming 6th graders this year. Starting middle school can be scary, intimidating, and challenging - but I'm here to help support this transition. I am here to help every student remove barriers to their success and assist our students in learning that they can achieve great things.

I believe that black lives matter, equity in all areas is our collective responsibility, school should be a safe and welcoming space, and that fulfilling our needs of survival essentials, freedom, control, love, and fun must be a priority in our schools. I am excited to support the students of Creighton Middle School and our larger community during the 2020-2021 school year.
