Crissy Duran is the director of bands at Standley Lake High School in Westminster, Colorado. She is in her 19th year of teaching, with the most recent six spent with the Gators in “The Swamp.” In that time, the Standley Lake band program has more than doubled in size under her direction. Her ensembles include beginning and advanced level jazz bands, concert band and wind ensemble, as well as the Gator Pride Marching Band and Adaptive Music for students with unique learning needs. Crissy has a passion for making music accessible to all students, regardless of ability or disability, and has adapted her curriculum and teaching space to include a range of special needs.
Crissy received her Bachelor of Music Education and Master of Music Education degrees from the University of Colorado at Boulder (GO BUFFS!) and her Master of Arts in Education degree from Regis University in Denver. She is a Colorado native and when she is not with her band kids, she loves spending time with her husband and daughter, Jeff and Adelynn, and two crazy puppies. She is addicted to Harry Potter and is unashamed to admit a love for Twilight...(the books AND the time of day!)
