Chatty Track and Field
Welcome, here you will find everything you could possibly need for the season and for information.
Weekly Schedule:
Track Weekly Updates- February 12th
Team,
Although there is not a ton of new information for those of you that have done track before I wanted to share it with everyone so that we are all on the same page going into the season. For those of you who are new to track, I recommend reading all of this and emailing me back with any follow-up questions. I recommend skimming and making sure you know all the information for those who are not new to track.
Registration
Spring registration is now open. Follow this link to begin registering! Make sure that you have an up-to-date physical as each physical lasts only 365 days. If you are getting this email and you’re new to track, that means you have registered. Returners need to make sure they register. If you do not register before February 24th, you may not attend practices.
Meet Schedule
Here is the most up-to-date copy of our meet schedule including locations, dates, and start times. For most of the meets, I have also attached the schedule, but for some, they are not available yet.
We do not have formal tryouts as we are a no-cut sport. However, in the first week, we will be doing intrasquad time trials of various distances.
For the first meet, we will make determinations based on the time trial. After that, it all depends on how many entries we have in our meets. We also have opportunities for freshmen to race in a freshman-only meet. We try our best to get everyone racing week-in and week-out and continue to look for additional opportunities throughout the season but the nature of track is we only get a certain amount of entries each week.
We are a no-cut sport so everyone will participate throughout the season.
Your spot on Varsity/JV can change week by week and it is all determined by performance and amount of entries we have per meet per event
Athletes can only compete in 11 meets during the season max. That doesn’t mean that everyone will hit that, but that is the most amount you can do. Based on performances, training plans, and how an athlete is feeling will determine what meets they compete in.
Team Gear/Uniform
Everyone will be issued a team t-shirt to wear at meets. Along with that everyone will need a uniform.
In accordance with CHSAA guidelines, you must wear our uniform top with black shorts. You may purchase your own black shorts.
Uniform tops for both boys and girls can be purchased for $40.
We will not change uniforms throughout your time at Chatfield so you will only need to purchase one ever.

Weekly Updates-
During the season I’ll send out weekly emails, normally Monday night after we’ve done entries for the week. I’ll send them out both via email and remind. These emails will include- weekly schedule, results, news from the boosters, and any other important information.
Practices
We will be practicing every school day starting February 24th. For practice, we will meet at the top of the Titanic at 3:40. Depending on how long our pre-practice meeting lasts and what the workout is for the day, the timing of the ending will vary, but normally 5 o’clock is a good bet.
The rule with practices is that if you miss more than two in a two-week period you’ll have to miss a meet.
We will all meet as a team at the beginning of practice then you will go into your training groups. Training groups are designed to be what event you will have as your main event. Almost everyone has multiple events that they will do. If you are in-between groups work with both coaches to help set a regulated schedule that maximizes performance and doesn’t overwork you.
