About Me

Mrs. Jordan, Mrs. Zgut, and Ms. Bang

I am a proud member of the columbine community, living here for over 20 years. Yes, you will see me shopping at King Soopers and out to eat at local restaurants, usually with my husband and 3 kids. All 3 kids have attended Normandy, and 1 is at Ken Caryl, while the other 2 are at Columbine. My son is a senior, and will be attending Grand Canyon University in the fall. Woot!

I volunteer a lot for my kids' sports, musicals, church, and scouting activities, so after school, I am a busy Momma! Upon coming in the door, I am greeted by 2 crazy, white, fluffy terrier-mixes and must sit to receive their loving for a mandatory 4.3 minutes before I can continue on into the house. ;) They keep me company as I enjoy my Saturday afternoon naps, when I read a good book on the couch, and when I am gardening in the back yard.

I grew up in Rochester, NY, attended SUNY Brockport and finished at CU Denver for my Masters. Colorado has been home for 26 years, and I absolutely love this state. This is my 26th year teaching at Normandy. I started at 1st grade, and ran as far away as possible and took a position in 5th grade where I stayed for 12 years. Then a switch to 6th grade for a bunch of years, down to 4th for a bit, and now back to 5th grade once again.

5th grade is one of my favorite ages to teach. The kids are still 'young' and need a 'mom' every now and then, but they are starting to spread their wings and try some more ownership of tasks and life skills.
