Approval of international travel will be subject to United States Department of State travel warnings. Travel warnings are issued when the State Department decides based on all relevant information, to recommend that Americans avoid travel to a certain country. No district sponsored international travel will be approved if warnings have been issued for the specific country or countries of travel or if a worldwide caution has been issued at the time of request for approval. The trip will be cancelled if warnings or cautions to specific countries are issued between the approval date and the departure of the trip. District Leadership has the authority and obligation to change the provisions of the policy at any time.
All groups must purchase liability coverage which specifically protects the district from claims originating outside the United States. Proof of Insurance coverage, must be provided in advance of travel. Rates will be determined by the District's Risk Management staff.
When students go offsite for curricular or non-curricular events, all appropriate forms must be completed and submitted to Community Superintendent at least six months prior to the activity.
Coed sleeping arrangements are not permitted. However, exceptions may be made in the case of dormitory housing (i.e., youth hostels), sleeping arrangements in public facilities during emergencies (i.e., airports or emergency shelters), or group camping without tents. In all cases where exceptions are made, sponsors will be expected to keep the sleeping arrangements of male and female students separate to the extent possible under the circumstances, and to provide appropriate supervision.

District Sponsored Domestic Overnight Travel
All domestic, overnight travel, excluding Outdoor Education Laboratory School, requires the following District Exhibits from District Policy JJH Student Travel:

Request For Approval. This form must be approved by the Principal and Community Superintendent at least 30 days prior to departure. (This time requirement and mandatory parent meeting are waived when a team or student participating in a post season competitive activity advances to the next level of competition and there is less than 30 days available for notification. In this case, approval should be sought as soon as the competition date is known).
